April in Paris
I am in the process of taking a leap of faith....working on living the life I envision for myself.
I am participating in an e~course given by Marisa (from Creative Thursday) and her beau Sean. They are teaching the course from Paris, where they are actualizing their dream of living in Paris for a month.
The first step in our journey is asking the question of myself......"What is it that I really want to do?"
And how can I find the courage to take action and embrace change.
I have so many small things that I am fearful of.....just keeping up with writing in this blog is a big leap for me.
Here is my list of things I want to do:
~Live smaller.
~Take Yoga classes.
~Sell most of my extra vintage stuff left over from my shop Decades Ago~Go.
~Ride my bike a lot.
~Expand my lines of jewelry so that I can wholesale to galleries (maybe!!).
~Be more organized.
~Travel to Italy with John.
~Eat more vegetables.
~Create more one of a kind jewelry.
~Set more stones.
~Wake up earlier.
~Loose a few pounds (I thought I would add this to the list!!).
~Journal and write morning pages daily.
~Unplug the rabbit ears on the TV.
~Apply to more local craft shows.
~Blog regularly.
~Take more pictures and figure out how to print and organize them.
I am sure more ideas will come to me as the weeks go by.
I have chosen to focus these next few weeks on committing to creating more one~of~a~kind jewelry pieces.
I would like to spend the time to make jewelry with more components, stones, handmade chain & extra detail.
I have the skills to do it but feel like I don't give myself the space and time to create really special pieces.
Is it fear? Why do I feel stuck creatively? I will be exploring my fears and working towards making this exciting change in my life and work.
Marisa and Sean posed the question "Do you feel like most people in your life are doing what it is they really want to be doing?
Are they living their dreams?
I wanted to ask, are you?
Would you like to come along with me to Paris and take a leap into one of your dreams?
I appreciate you reading this and coming along with my on my journey.

That is fabulous Laura! Are those your pieces on the right in the flickr gallery? The one with the tomato colored stone is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHello fellow parisian. I'm in the paris class with you and thought I'd stop by and say hello - so hello. I love that living smaller is on your list! I find myself wanting to purge everything and keep it minimal and I don't live in a hoarding space.
ReplyDeleteYour jewelry designs are beautiful! I especially love the one with the bird and tiny heart. I look forward to getting to know more of your inspirations more. Have an inspiring day.
laura, this is wonderful and i am so very happy for you... thank you for sharing your feelings, your dreams and your fears... i absolutely think that you should be expanding into ooak pieces... your smithing abilities, vision and artistry demand that you do - and so does the voice inside of you... one of the really fun things about the rad challenge (though i know it has been taxing) is seeing you thinking outside of the box... some days are ones created one a whim, others required more planning and time to execute... and you know what? they are all wonderful and reflect your Self... and i love that... i wish you steps taken down an unknown path that opens up onto a sun drenched field of flowers! xoxo
ReplyDeletekimberly, stephey and mary jane, thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words to me. i am excited and a bit scared to take the leap of change, it helps to know that you all are here. xoxox
ReplyDeletewow - i love your jewelry! maybe a treat for myself if i work through my dream for this course will be a little something here :)
ReplyDeletei love your list and can relate to a lot of it, especially the simplify part. i want to pare away the excess and get down to what really nourishes me at all levels. and yeah, getting up earlier is always something i strive for! even though it means i go to bed earlier ... it seems to make me prioritize my day better!
so good to be on this journey with you!

I would love to treat myself to one of your pieces someday, too. In the meantime, will you allow me to use photos from your blog on my blog to showcase your work? Better yet, Laura...would you allow me to feature you on my blog in an artist interview? It's something I've been meaning to do for a while now: interview artists whose work I love and blog about them.
ReplyDeleteHere's my idea: I would email you questions, and you send answers in an email. I won't edit your responses and you can preview what I post before I post it. You'll get more exposure and it will help me get the ball rolling with my intention. Let me know if you are interested.
xo, Jane
Jane and Lis.....thank you so much for stopping in and writing to me, you have made my day. It is wonderful to be on this journey with both of you and I am excited to see where it takes me (us).
ReplyDeleteJane...I would LOVE to do an interview for your blog. Send over some questions and I will do my best to answer them thoughtfully.
ps.....here is my email, I hope you find this.
